01 / BUSINESS QUESTIONS

When do you need a quantitative survey?

01

Your audience picture is unclear

  • Which criteria do customers use to choose a product?
  • Where do they look for information about your product?
  • Which product attributes matter to them?
  • Which problem does your product solve for customers?
02

You need to assess demand for a new product or service

  • Is the problem your product solves real for the audience?
  • How many people would be willing to buy it?
  • How much would they pay for this solution?
  • Are there similar solutions they already pay for?
03

Your audience chooses competitors

  • Where does your brand stand against competing brands?
  • Which criteria guide the audience’s choice?
  • What does the customer journey look like and how can you influence it?
  • What share of the audience recognizes your brand more often than competitors’ brands?
04

Customers do not buy again

  • What jobs does the audience hire your product to do?
  • Are customers satisfied with the current product?
  • What needs to change to improve satisfaction?
  • Which alternatives do people use to replace your product?
02 / THE METHOD

What makes quantitative surveys different?

A strategy should address the challenge your business faces. Every marketing challenge starts with understanding whom you sell to. That is why strategy is grounded in customer needs, segmentation and the customer journey.

The next step is an objective answer: which factors matter most? We design a quantitative sample with enough respondents to examine the question. A sufficiently large audience helps us determine how many people choose on the basis of price, quality or appearance.

Quantitative surveys provide evidence about your audience and test assumptions against reality.

03 / FORMATS AND GOALS

Which quantitative survey formats do we offer?

By data collection method:

  • Telephone surveys (a conversation with an interviewer over the phone)
  • Online questionnaires (completed independently online)

Depending on your goals, we conduct:

  • NPS (assessing customer satisfaction)
  • Hypothesis testing (for new products and business directions)
  • Brand Health (assessing your brand’s position in a competitive environment)
  • CJM development (mapping the customer’s decision journey)
  • Ad hoc research (answering a specific question, such as the importance of a particular product feature)
04 / RESEARCH PROCESS

How do we research your audience?

01

Develop hypotheses

Before the survey begins, in-depth interviews with the audience are needed. We offer a separate CustDev study to identify assumptions about your audience for testing.

02

Sample and questionnaire

We calculate the sample size required for the research and define audience selection criteria. We then develop the questionnaire. The first 1–3 questions are always screening questions, used to establish whether a respondent belongs to the target audience.

03

Find and survey respondents

We source a database or use an existing one. Participation incentives may be a company benefit or a financial reward. We distribute online questionnaires or call the audience to conduct telephone surveys.

04

Analysis and findings

We analyze the collected responses and statistics. The report describes the audience, product choice journey, motivations and barriers. We segment the audience and describe each segment.

05

Presentation

We prepare a presentation with recommendations for your company, then run a strategy session with your team to present the report and brainstorm together.

FAQ

Questions about quantitative surveys

How does a quantitative survey differ from an interview?

In-depth interviews explore motivations and help develop hypotheses. A quantitative survey measures how common opinions, preferences and behaviors are within an audience sample.

Should we use online or telephone surveys?

Respondents complete an online questionnaire independently. In a telephone survey, an interviewer records their answers. We select the method around audience access and the research questions.

What sample is included in the packages?

The online package includes at least 200 questionnaires; the telephone package includes at least 200 calls. We calculate the required sample and screening criteria around your research goals.

What questions can a survey answer?

Measure demand, test product hypotheses, explore preferences and satisfaction, assess brand position and map the customer journey.

What will we receive?

Data analysis, a report, a presentation and recommendations for your company. We discuss the findings in a strategy session with your team.

How much does a survey cost and how long does it take?

Both formats start from $2,890 and take from 1.5 months. The final budget, timing and sample size are agreed after discussing your goals.
